What is the IELTS?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s most popular English proficiency test for study, work, and migration. Recognized by over 11,000 organizations worldwide, including universities, employers, and immigration authorities, IELTS assesses your listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills. Whether you aim to study abroad, enhance your career, or settle in an English-speaking country, IELTS is your key to success. Prepare with expert guidance and achieve your desired band score!

IELTS Listening Test

The listening exam consists of four sections with a total of 40 questions. Sections 1 and 2 cover everyday social situations, while Sections 3 and 4 focus on academic contexts. Various question types appear throughout the test, so developing strategies for each type is essential. The audio recording lasts for approximately 30 minutes, followed by additional time to review and transfer your answers (refer to the listening section for more details). All test-takers complete the same listening assessment.

IELTS Reading Test

The reading test includes three passages with a total of 40 questions. The Academic version features texts with an academic tone, while the General Training version focuses on everyday or workplace-related topics, with the third passage resembling academic content. There are 14 types of questions used in both versions, so practicing all of them is important to develop familiarity and effective strategies. The test lasts for 60 minutes, and all candidates must complete it within this time.

IELTS Writing Test

The writing test has two tasks. In Task 1, Academic candidates describe a chart, graph, or table, while General Training candidates write a letter. Task 2 is the same for both – a formal essay. There are five types of essays, so it’s important to practice each one. Essays are based on different topics, so preparing ideas and relevant vocabulary is helpful. Understanding the scoring criteria is key, as success depends on more than just language skills. The test lasts for 60 minutes.

IELTS Speaking Test

The speaking test is a one-on-one conversation with an examiner, either in person or through a video call. It lasts between 11 and 14 minutes and is divided into three parts. In Parts 1 and 3, you answer questions, while in Part 2, you speak for 2 minutes after 1 minute of preparation. Since the test is based on different topics, learning topic-related vocabulary is important. All candidates take the same test, and understanding the scoring criteria is essential for a good result.
